Google has announced that its Website Translator Widget will no longer be supported starting October 1, 2026.
The widget has been widely used by website owners as a simple way to add automatic translation and a language selector without building a custom translation system.
Google is not discontinuing Google Translate itself. The change only affects the embeddable Website Translator Widget. Website owners who need ongoing automated translation are being directed toward Google Cloud translation services.
This change is especially relevant for WordPress users, because many websites have relied on plugins or custom code based on Google’s old translation widget.
